News and Notes from the Recent Point Loma Annual Meeting

There were several important developments arising in the recent annual meeting held at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, California.  Two new officers were elected:  Patrick Eby, the Assistant Professor of Church History and Christian Ministry at Indiana Wesleyan University’s Wesley Seminary, was elected to replace Lester Ruth as president of the Society.  To replace Dr. Eby as secretary, the Society elected Jennifer Woodruff Tait, managing editor of Christian History magazine.  A new class of board members (2019) were also elected:  Julie Lunn and Steven Hoskins. Outgoing president Lester Ruth expressed his appreciation to the Society for its support and to the incoming officers for their willingness to serve.  The sites for the next two annual meetings of the Society were also confirmed:  Philadelphia in the Fall of 2017 and Oxford in the Summer of 2018.  More details will soon be forthcoming.
In the meeting itself several academic papers were presented as a session of the Wesleyan Theological Society.  On the final afternoon several practical workshops were held for local musicians and preachers.  Total attendance was about three dozen participants.
