The executive officers include both American and European members as a way to reflect something of the breadth of Wesley’s life and work. The team includes both denominational officials and people who work in academia. Some are specialists in Wesley; others focus on early Methodism; and others are attracted to Wesley because of his ongoing importance for the church’s music today.
Board members are selected by the membership of the Society at the annual meeting. The six board members who are not officers serve three-year, staggered terms so that two board members rotate on and off the board each year.
