Please excuse me using this as a Contact Us page. Millions of people are/will be singing ‘Hark! the herald-angels sing’ at this time of year. It includes the line ‘Late in time behold him come’. Please cd you explain the first 3 words – surely Charles Wesley was not suggesting the Lord was unpunctual? Of course, more time had elapsed before His birth than has since, but does that make it late?
I’d be grateful for an explanation. Thanks in anticipation, Hugh Burney
